In the past three days former VP Mike Pence has been speaking forcefully that Trump viloated his constitutional responsibilities and should never become President again. He even appeared as a witness before Special Counsel Smith to give testimony in regards to Trump’s effort to torpedo the 2020 election result. Trump in his indictment hearing today was warned by the Judge not to directly discuss the case with any witness and if he has the desire to do so it must be done by a member of his legal team. The GOP has scheduled the first debate of their presidential candidates who meet the party requirements for August 23, 2023. Right now it looks like Gov DeSantis has made the cut to participate and Pence is confident he will make it too. Trump has not yet stated if he will participate but what if he does? Trump has attacked Pence for being disloyal and if both appear on the debate stage tension will no doubt be in the air. That makes me wonder how both would react if the moderator asked them about the events leading up to the election and the immediate days after Trump knew he lost. Will Trump be able to control his temper when Pence provides his answers? Or will he fly off the handle and verbally attack Pence? If he does that, he is clearly in violation of the Judge’s order. My guess is that Trump’s lawyers are probably counseling him to skip the debate but given Trump’s super sized ego and penchant for attention he may not follow that advise. Personally I would like to see both on the debate stage since it promises to be a spectacular confrontation and the viewing public would learn a lot about both men. One of them will be lying while one will speak the truth. I still like to belief that the majority of voters remain interested in the truth.
