Historical Illiteracy Abounds

It is now quite prevalent in free speech and Trump rallies of the past and present for followers to use words like “Nazi’, Fascist’ and ‘Communist’ and even “Socialist’ when referring to their perceived opponents. They seem to know very little that these words carry a heavy historical burden in their definition and context. It is a careless and reckless use of verbiage when they are used to oppose vaccinations, mask mandates, gun control or immigration. It tells me that those making such claims suffer and are historically illiterate or grossly ignorant of the true meaning of these terms. Let us look at some synonyms for these expressions and what comes to mind? Possibly state control, dictatorship, brutality, criminal, imprisonment, no freedom of speech, genocide, no elections, one man rule, only state media channels and others! So ask the people on the right to show me ‘Concentration camps’ and ‘Gulags’ in our country or places in our fifty states where citizens have been executed for their ethnic backgrounds or religious beliefs. If you can’t, I suggest you temper your speech.
