The majority of the GOP party now are not interested in party philosophies or platform points. All their attention is focused on one person and he is Trump. Anything he tells them is to be believed and not questioned. That premise holds true even under Trump’s avalanche of lies and conspiracy rants. Thus it can be stated that Trumpism is a personality cult. Now we have seen strange movements in the Republican party before. There was the McCarthy RED fear movement, the George Wallace racist movement, the Perot anti Republican establishment movement and the Tea party movement. They all faded when they lacked a high profile leader or one who lost clout. With Trump’s loss in this election the same will happen to Trumpism but it won’t be immediate. Much depends on Trump himself and the political role he wishes to play in the future. We have seen since early 2016 that millions of people were unified by the ideas of Trump. His hard line anti immigration stance, his break with traditional foreign policies and his pitch that religion was under attack in the US found willing followers. Even now we see his loyal followers demonstrating in places like Atlanta and Philadelphia echoing his complaint that the election was stolen from him. Many conservative social media platforms are sending out the same false message. That means to me that Trumpism will be around for a while especially if Trump remains active as a critic of the Biden administration. However, I doubt it since once his loss is confirmed his ego will be so bruised that he will withdraw from politics all together.
