Trump elected to downplay the virus, refused to wear a mask which we know is the best protection against airborne virus carriers and suggested odd medications as a cure for it. How may lives could have been saved if Trump had addressed the nation with a ‘Call to Arms’ to defeat the virus early on? Are we wrong in expecting our President to show character, competence and integrity in a national crisis? But what we received from Trump was ineptness, dishonesty and epic dereliction of duty. The American people are strong, determined and can unite against a common enemy. History has proven that repeatedly. But Trump’s confusing messaging made that impossible. His own words mocking those who wore masks and total disregard for public safety in holding rallies will not be forgotten when we vote in November!
